Hello Om,
You are lucky! I have just finished version 1.4 of my RTTY
software. I have also finished 7plus ver. 1.63. This should
come as a welcome surprise for packet operators. It is to be
found in the main directory.
In addition to the RTTY software, this disk contains the newest
available version of AMISAT and a version of AHP with a few
modifications which I have made. There is also another RTTY
software (RTTY2) which uses the joystick port.
You'll find more info on the various programmes in the relevant
directories.
One more word concerning ham radio PD software:
We, the programmers, offer all software on a public domain
basis. The programmes have been created because very little had been
available for the Amiga. They are the product of a lot of work
and numerous hours of leisure time sacrificed while creating
them. Most programmers are students who have very little money
for hardware. And we all know that for decent programming work
on an Amiga, one needs a hard disk, a ram expansion and preferably
an accelerator board (this holds particularly true for programming
work in C as compiling on a 68000 can take ages...).
So, I am appealing to the more wealthy among you to make a
contribution to the development of Amiga software. All this
software can only be improved and extended if the conditions
are right. If we have decided to distribute our software as
public domain, this is mainly because commercial software makes
only the dealers rich rather than the programmers.
Please consider that a hardware outfit can be quite expensive,
actually thousands of pounds. And then you are expecting the software
for free? Well, it does take the software to make the whole thing run,
doesn't it?
Programming for MS-DOS reaches a lot more people then for the
Amiga. DL1MEN makes a lot of money through SP (for MS-DOS). And
what does DG6UL get for his AHP, which is certainly just as
good? That certainly doesn't cover his expenses.
Any suggestions for improving the software are always welcome.
Certain things are very difficult to implement and others will never
be done.
I am sorry, but all this had to be said. After an article in CQ-
DL my letter box ran over. Everybody wants everything and this for
free. And, well, they shall have it.
So, enjoy the software.
